This month we feature "Crayon Chewer", and when you've got it, flaunt it! She does well in embracing color and making you want to cry out in awe of the cuteness! From her fan art on Pokemon, My Little Pony or just anything "Chibi". The piece we are featuring this month is specifically of "Rainbow Brite" and is Crayon-Chewer's hopes for a successful Rainbow Brite Relaunch. True to the original design and cute, she kept a lot of the original appearance of Rainbow Brite, Starlite and Twink, but in a style that is very whimsical and all her own. Well done!

Month Featured: June 2012 Artist: Kat Ruhl Featured Fan Artist: As eclectic a person's styles may be, you can never have too many rainbows. Here is a "Rainbow Brite" designed by Kat Ruhl fittingly titled "Savior of Color". Keeping true to the original design, but in her own style you can't help but love it. It's as familiar as a special memory and as comfortable as a warm blanket. Seeing images like this just makes you smile and remember and those memories are special. Month Featured: July 2012 Artist: Kuakness Featured Fan Artist: We all have to start somewhere. This was one of the first drawings done by this month's artist, and while she's come a long way in her art since this picture was done it's a good idea to look back and see where you have been to see how far you have come. Cheerful and bright, Rainbow Brite with Starlite is by Kuakness of DeviantArt way back in 2006. Still it's one you keep wanting to look back at. Take a moment to take a look yourself, as well as at other character art such as Disney, Anime, and many more!.

Month Featured: January 2011 Artist: starpowerrr Featured Fan Artist: Rainbow Brite can be cute, but she can also be very glamorous, as you can see in this drawing done by "Starpowerrr". By her side is Krys, also dashing but not as dolled up as Rainbow, with her adorable dress and doe eyes. Starpowerrr has also drawn Shy Violet in this adorable style which can be seen on her blog (click image to view). If you go to her blog you can see that the artist loves everything colorful, sparkled and cute! This drawing is truly a sweet treat! Good work! |
Month Featured: February 2011 Artist: Jerzy Drozd Featured Fan Artist: Drawing Rainbow Brite is not as easy as some people may think. To capture the essence of childhood can be hard. Comic Artist Jerzy Drozd decided to draw her one day to get his creative juices going. He was able to get such details as the color castle, her color belt, those timeless moon boots and famous cheek star just about perfect, yet still in his own style. While the sketch was just an outline, which he says he will color later, it's nice to see that our favorite character still challenges artists, and for fans reminds us that she still inspires. |
Month Featured: March 2011 Artist: Cookiepoppet Featured Fan Artist: We have featured this artist previously, back in October of 2009, but it's nice to go back and see them draw our favorite character again! This time DeviantArtist Cookiepoppet drew Rainbow Brite and her Sprite Twink. The sweet faces on both characters capture your heart every time, and the lovely textures make the scene dance with joy. It is an honor to feature this artist once again. Very well done! |
Month Featured: April 2011 Artist: marianacorvi Featured Fan Artist: Starlite is the most magnificent horse in the universe, and it's hard not to believe it when you see such rich colors and sparkling eyes as done on this piece of fan art my Mariana Corvi of Deviant Art. His long mane being caught in the wind is breath taking and it's nice to know his beauty can still be captured by such a skillful artist. Well done! |

Share the Rainbow! |
Month Featured: June 2011 Artist: AmarineCraft Featured Fan Artist: This month's featured Fan Art is of Rainbow Brite drawn by AmarineCraft of DeviantArt. ArmaineCraft is not new to Rainbow Brite, having drawn several great pictures of her, the color kids, and more! This picture in particular really struck us as brilliant. The lovely textures, gleeful expression on Twink, and vibrant colors. It is gorgeous! Please take your time to see this artists other Rainbow Brite inspired pictures and comment on these breath taking colorful pieces! Share the Rainbow! |
Month Featured: July 2011 Artist: Katie "Toast" D Featured Fan Artist: This month's featured Fan Art is of Rainbow Brite drawn by Katie "Toast" D (AKA mewgal of DeviantArt). Katie's style is often quirky and charming. For this drawing she says that if she had been influenced by Rainbow Brite more as a child she may have been able to draw stars better. Stars or no, this sketch is lovely and we hope to see more like it from others. Until then please share the rainbow and this piece with others you know! Share the Rainbow! |
Month Featured: August 2011 Artist: CrabOfDoom Featured Fan Artist: Sometimes fan art is fun, this month it's also just darn CUTE! With a "My Little Pony" theme, here is out lovely Starlite, the most magnificent horse in the universe, drawn by "CrabofDoom" of DeviantArt. |
Month Featured: September 2011 Artist: Robin E Kaplan Featured Fan Artist: This month's featured artist is quite the charmer. She was kind enough to allow us to feature her for this month, and we thought it best to allow her to tell you how this piece came about in her own words: I'm a children's book illustrator who does nerdy comic book show stuff on the side, and I was going through a week of re-discovering Rainbow Brite a while back, and that piece was the result. I've always been inspired by the really charming character designs in that show, and of course the fact that it was a 'girl show' with plenty of action and adventure. Also the best terrible villains ^.~ This art is beautiful to say the least. It seems to grasp the joy and playfulness of our childhoods in the design and small touches. It is as though each of the character's personalities is shown in their poses! If you like this print, click the picture above and you can order a copy of it from Etsy in a variety of sizes. |
Month Featured: October 2011 Artist: Elaine Snowden Featured Fan Artist: Trick or Treat! Rainbow's always seem sweet! This month's featured Fan Artist is Elaine Snowden (Neale of Deviant Art), who drew an updated yet mischievous Rainbow Brite tossing Star Sprinkles at an unknown foe. Is it Murky Dismal off the panel? Perhaps just a gloom cloud. One thing is for sure, it chases your gloom away! You can't help but adore the textures, colors and whimsical lines of this piece. It's magic! |
Month Featured: November 2011 Artist: Hinoraito Featured Fan Artist: OMG DOUBLE RAINBOW! This month's featured Fan Artist is Hinoraito of Deviant Art, who drew two very different Rainbow Brite fan pictures. One is a sweet classic style chibi Rainbow Brite, gleeful and cute! They other a regular pop princess with modern updated costume, but still a few accents that echo the old style; mainly the ponytail, thick bangs, the rainbow sleeves, boots, and star accented hair and belt. Both styles are very different, but they still shout "RAINBOW POWER"! |
Month Featured: December 2011 Artist: Allie Hilditch Featured Fan Artist: This month's featured Fan Artist is Allie Hilditch (LimpingGnome of Deviant Art), who combined two of the most colorful cartoons in years to make a sonic rainboom!! Rainbow Brite riding Rainbow Dash from the new My Little Pony. Ponies and Bronies will agree that it's a match made in rainbow heaven! The art itself, beyond just being cute is also very well done. It has rich color, and textures considering it wall drawn with colored pencils and markers. Drop by the artist's page and see her other art which are just as nicely done...and CUTE! |

Month Featured: June 2010 Featured Fan Artist: It is often fun to see how fashion and Rainbow Brite mix. This month we see Shy Violet in a very “Lolita” style fashion, reading to Canary Yellow. With a wonderful use of color and expression, it's a joy to see two of Rainbow Brite's Color Kid friends having a nice spring day in the sun. |
Month Featured: July 2010 Featured Fan Artist: Sometimes artists feel drawing Rainbow Brite and her friends is a challenge. They see such unique characters and decide to give their own spin to these classic looks with their own style but still staying true to what fans love! Here DeviantArt Artist "Loverofpiggies" did just that with her style of "Rainbow Land". She drew each character individually, before putting them all into the final poster you see here. If you want to see all of these pieces, please visit her DeviantArt page, Comment, and Share the Rainbow! |
Month Featured: August 2010 Featured Fan Artist: It's fun to feature art in such vibrant color, and this artist is just that. Drawn by Diana Contreras Rivera (SHIRA5 of Deviant Art), this talented artist from Spain decided to draw “Rainbow Brite” and her friend “Twink” in her own funky “Chibi” style. Mrs Rivera draws many characters in this style which reminds us of the whimsy of youth and color. Please visit her art and you will find a smile on every page to brighten your day. |
Month Featured: September 2010 Featured Fan Artist: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and it is perfectly captured in this piece by Mary Cagle. Ms Cagle is an artist who decided to take on drawing Rainbow Brite and her friends in her own special style. Her style is unique while influenced by Japanese Anime as well as other things. You can see these influences in her very own web-comic “Kiwi Blitz” which follows the adventures of a couple of American teenagers in the near future who fight crime with robots. In her interpretation of Rainbow Brite Characters, she has drawn them in the style of her comic. You could almost see her heroine dressing as these characters for Halloween or a fancy dress party. Here is her own words about how Rainbow Brite influenced her work: Rainbow Brite was one of a few series I really liked as a kid that included both adorable characters and adventurous stories. There was even some surprising depth (especially in that first episode!) for a show based on greeting cards. I always liked that combination. It's really too bad that Bratz-style toys have taken over the young population's interest since then. This month we proudly feature a re-vamped “Classic” Rainbow Brite Logo using Mary's version of Rainbow Brite and Twink. She is also taking on other characters such as Moonglow, Stormy, and Lala Orange and will be working on doing more classic characters in the near future. If you want to view any of these creations or even order prints, please visit her Deviant Gallery! Share the rainbow and tell this awesome artist how great her art is! Also check out her web-comic: “Kiwi Blitz” to see her art in action! |

Featured Fan Artist: Its nice to find Fan Art that uses different textures, shading and even a realistic approach. That's the fun of colors in general, finding ways to let the light shine through. Recently artist E.P. (Maahs of DeviantArt) attempted a more realistic shaded look to our beloved Rainbow Brite character. The coloring makes you want to find your watercolor set and attempt the look yourself, though I'm not sure we all could achieve such a gorgeous look ourselves without what seems to have taken this artist hours of practice. In this image Rainbow Brite maintains her innocent look, glancing up to you with wide blue eyes and impish grin. If you get a chance go to DeviantArt and let this artist know how much you enjoy this piece and share the rainbow with those you love! |

Featured Fan Artist: Sometimes when it comes to the love of color people love just a particular color. Here the art Jasartist from DeviantArt went through a series of characters she liked with “Green Hair”. Among those she drew in her own style was Rainbow Brite's best friend, Patty O'Green. Keeping the character impish and charming hugging her own special sprite Lucky, it's hard not to smile. Share your smile with others too and let them know about this adorable Patty O'Green Fan Art! |
Month Featured: December 2010 Featured Fan Artist: When one thinks of Rainbow Brite they think of the sparkling blue eyed girl with blond hair and star kissed cheek with the ability to bring color to the world with a touch of her fingers to the magic Star Sprinkles, or her Color Belt. Now and then an artist is able to capture this with their imaginations and bring her to a new level of reality. That is what "Hezaa" of DeviantArt did. Using beautiful textures and lights, shading and depth, Rainbow Brite truly shines. The artist considers this piece unfinished, but I for one, think she is lovely and a perfect ending for this years featured Fan Art! Bravo! |
