Moonglow was my first custom doll. I decided to create her long before I discovered Mattel actually produced such a doll (for international distribution only). I designed the doll itself using a tiny picture from an old doll pamphlet of the Moonglow doll prototype. Her head and body are taken from a Dress Up Rainbow Brite doll.

Stormy...people demanded for a long time that I make this doll before I actually found out I could. It took a long time to find a yarn in the right color to match the color used on the Mattel prototype (which I tried to copy as closely as I could), and I could not find a metallic green fabric for her skirt. Finally, I made her skirt using a shiny plastic bonded to a regular green fabric, and used a slightly different, softer yarn then used on the original RBB dolls. To make Stormy even more difficult, she is made out of a rare Tickled Pink doll. As a result, there are few Stormy custom dolls around.

NOTE: BabyDoll is a featured Custom Doll maker who has allowed us to feature her work, but she does NOT make Stormy Dolls on demand. She has retired from Custom Doll making at this time.

Krys was also introduced in the Rainbow Brite movie, and was my second custom doll ever. He uses a Red Butler head. Everything else is custom sewn. Krys features a removable helmet, gloves, belt, and vest. The blue material is a shiny vinyl for that 'space age' look.

Evil Princess was the main villain for the Rainbow Brite movie, "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer." Princess's head is a standard Rainbow Brite doll. Her body is hand-sewn. She features a removable belt, crown, boots, cape, and shirt.

Misty Pearl was my first attempt at an original character. She was created using a Dress-Up Rainbow Brite doll. She features a removable bikini top, removable fin, removable bikini bottom, and pearls on her neck, wrists, and in her hair. I also inserted wires into Misty's legs, so that she can assume a sitting position and remain in that shape.
